Further Studies in Solitude (2017)

video, 4 minutes

A re-construction/reenactment of a scene from Sergio Leone's 1966 The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. This work stars a female character dressed as a cowboy inside a bubble bath, sipping a glass of wine and singing Brenda Lee's 1960 "I'm Sorry". Conflating two clichés of solitude, the video blurs divisions between lonesomeness and loneliness, examining the gendered nuances of autonomy, apology, and romance.
